We don't normally take on total re upholstery jobs on chairs due to the time they take and the subsequent high labour costs involved far exceeding the value of the chair, but this was an exception. Originally coming to us as a "simple recover" stripping back the fabric, as is often the case, revealed a lot more work with the frame only being held together by the webbing. This meant that the whole chair needed to be stripped completely so that I could undertake the structural repairs to the woodwork. There then followed weeks of work re upholstering the chair in the manner that it would have originally been done, with the client supplying the outer fabric of their choice, to be painstakingly applied to the body of the chair, no staple guns here, just upholstery tacks and hand stitching. We are pleased to say that we have now completed the chair and are very pleased with the result.
