Well it has been a busy time in our workshop, in fact busier than the shop. We have been restoring a vast array of furniture for customers, which came to us in a very sorry state, and I am pleased to report that once finished met with joy and astonishment at how good the pieces looked. We had two items of Georgian furniture that had been severely damaged by water, A chest of drawers and a bureau, a Georgian drop leaf table that just needed re polishing, and currently working on a button back Victorian chair. This had a distinct wobble when it came into the workshop, and on stripping down we found that the frame had completely snapped on one side and was showing signs of the same thing happening on the other. We have successfully repaired this damage by drilling out the frame and gluing dowels in place to hold them together whilst retaining the strength. Just got to now re upholster the chair.
It is always nice to see the surprise on the client's face when what they think is beyond repair is transformed back to it's former glory.
